Blu-Ray Releases For August 5th, 2008

I remember seeing Starship Troopers in the theater when I was about 13 years old. I also remember my Father and I leaving the theater about a hour before the movie ended because it was so poorly made. I suppose the graphics were good at the time but honestly the acting and the overall story was just uninteresting. Most males (including myself at the time) who watched it just wanted to see Denise Richards topless. Nim’s Island seemed like a cool concept for children, but even the two girls I babysit (ages 8 and 10) didn’t even want to see it when it came out so I’m not really sure what age bracket that movie appeals to. I would probably get The Counterfeiters or the beautiful Wild China documentary, which I saw recently on cable.

You must've seen a different film than me and my friends did. I was 20 and saw this with my college roomates in a full theater (of mostly young men) in NYC. The theater went crazy numerous times during the battles and was laughing at the satire constantly. It honestly was one of the most memorable movie going experiences in my life because the audience was so engaged. In my opinion, this is almost a perfect film!
Just read some of the reviews at imdb to get a bit deeper into this film than the above misinformed critique. And dude, if you left halfway through, you missed the best battles with the bugs!
