Star Wars Galaxies Developer Hints At Vehicle Combat

A recent forum post from Star Wars Galaxies developer ‘Dotanuki’ has revealed that vehicle combat in The Battle of Echo Base will be added in a future update to the popular MMO. Dotanuki began with a bit of teasing that suggested waiting until the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire for the news, but admits that the “secret was too good to keep under wraps.” Those interested in more details will need to attend the Fan Faire Galactic Assembly presentation.

This is certainly an exciting announcement as there aren’t many games with the size and depth of Star Wars Galaxies that have such a feature. I used to play Star Wars Galaxies for a year before all the changes (NGE, etc) and had a great time. I still talk to some of the people I met in that game on a regular basis. However, my interest in the game waned and now I look back it with respect. While it’s not as popular as the MMO juggernaut World of Warcraft, it does have excellent space combat, vibrant landscapes and now a trading card game. The addition of vehicular combat makes it even more interesting than ever before and hopefully this addition with the many others recently will bring more people to the game.

The new animated Clone Wars movie debuts this month as well which should spur new interest into the game.
