Is Sony Readying a Playstation 3 With 512mb of XDR Memory? UPDATE: No.

Note: We made a misinterpretation regarding a story about a memory manufacturer that is making 512Mb XDR memory for the PS3. I accidentally interpreted that as 512MB (MB and Mb, oy). Some PS3s have Samsung chips and some have Elpida chips. All Sony has done is signed with Qimonda for the same size chips. We apologize greatly for the misinformation, please accept our apologies. I’m human, and an idiot in this case. :(

    none sense, the PS3 specs are permanent, this is like saying all of those that purchased any previous hardware will have to buy a new system. How are developers going to make games like this???. its going to stay the same, o changes to the core hardware, only items such as HDD space, WiFi, backwards compatibility can be removed. You cant remove the bluray drive, cell, or ram.

    Sony better not be screwing us early PS3 adopters over like they did with the Slim PSP.

    Either Rober Feurle or Mr.MacManus have a critical hole where the knowledge for console’s Ecosystem & Lifecycles should be. This, will not be. As Cell989 said,it is not wise nor technically consequent to alter the ram pool of a console already launched.Developers would rampage & shot themselves in the head after months of hard coding for the SPE’S in sony’s SDK.

    Insulting article,title just made up to get hits;Way to go.

    Guys, we made a mistake here. Sometimes I get a little too eager and I completely misinterpreted the presented information. My apologies.

    It’s kinda crazy to see that pic…
    This is only relevant to people who live in Toronto or go through Eglinton Station alot.

    That picture is from the launch days of the PS3. That’s Eglinton Station in Toronto, Canada. That guy with the guitar is always there.

    My bets are;

    A PS4 “Quad Cell Core”,512 system,512 graphical,Solid State H.Drive.Would be more like it

    The most risky apliccation in consonance with this article could be a Slim PS3 with 45nm Cell,65nm RSX & a memory pool of 512 similar to that of the 360.Doubtful but possible though.
