Sony To Introduce Another China-Only PMP – PMX-U55

PMPToday has found on Zol.com.cn the new 1/2GB PMX-U55, a personal media player that ‘has a 2.4-inch 320 × 240-pixel screen, supports MPEG-4, H.264/AVC Baseline Profile, AVI videos and a slim 7.5mm profile. It also plays MP3, WMA and AAC in six audio modes.” The U55 has 12 hours of audio playback or five hours of video playback, and should retail in for 498 yuan, which is about $75USD. If Sony released anything like this piece of hardware in their other markets, it would be a huge hit. What’s the deal, Sony?

  • Hello
    Thanks for the heads up!
It's interesting how the player has an XMB style interface (PS3 / PSP). It seems to work well. I was hoping that the new Sony MP3 players (announced at IFA) would have something similar. Alas, wasn't the case.

Otherwise a relatively stale release, nothing ground-breaking.
