Sony’s Bluetooth DR-BT160AS Headset Has Solid Battery Life

Sony Insider has discovered more information about a Bluetooth headset/microphone that was initially reported by Stuff.tv earlier today. We held back on reporting it here because we wanted to see if it was possible to find out some more information about the specifics of the device (and obtain a higher quality picture). The DR-BT160AS has a 30mm driver, 16-24,000Hz playback range, and Play/Stop/FF/RW functions on the headset. The microphone is an Omni Directional microphone that has an effective 100-4,000Hz range. It only takes three hours to complete a full charge on the built-in Lithium ion rechargeable battery, which will enable 11 hours of voice usage and/or 100 hours of music playback. No word on release yet, but it should be this fall, around October, for sure.

Just bought a pair. Holy crap these are ugly. I new they were at the time I bought them, but they were the only choice for working out, that didn’t have a cord.

The audio and initial comfort is great, but if I turn my head from left to right or do the bench press the behind-the-neck hoop sometimes interferes. Sony needs to make one as fashionable as the AS100W w/o the wire of course.

    I also own the BT50, BT8iP, Reciever/Transmitter, and the BT15.
