Dish Network Signs Deal with Sony Pictures

AP – Satellite TV operator Dish Network Corp. said Thursday it signed a deal to offer Sony Pictures Television’s films and other programs through on demand and pay-per-view. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The pact covers both standard definition and high definition programming offered on video on demand, Dish on demand or through pay-per-view. Customers must have a digital video recorder to use the Dish on demand service, which provides access to some programs the same day they come out on DVD.

Dish Network had about 13.8 million satellite television customers as of June 30.
