Former Sony Pictures Entertainment Employee Kills Five In Family, Self
In a truly modern day tragedy, an unemployed financial advisor apparently despondent over his troubles shot and killed his wife, his mother-in-law and three children before taking his own life in the gated community of the 20600 block of Como Lane in Porter Ranch in the northwest San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles police said today. Concerned friends had phoned police over the night and when police showed up at 8:30 it was far too late. The LA Times writes, “We believe this to be a murder-suicide,” Moore said. “It appears [the gunman] killed his family and then took his own life.”
The 45-year-old suspect used a handgun he purchased Sept. 16, Moore said. The weapon was found next to the gunman’s body, officials said. The bodies of the man’s 39-year-old wife, 70-year-old mother-in-law, and three sons — ages 19, 12 and 7 — were found inside the home’s various bedrooms. Authorities had earlier said that one of the victims was the gunman’s mother but now say it was his mother-in-law. Friends and neighbors identified the couple as Karthik and Subasri Rajaram, who had lived in the neighborhood for a few years.
Moore said police believe that the gunman shot the victims sometime after 6 p.m. Saturday, and that he had left behind three letters indicating that he had carried out the killings. One letter, addressed to law enforcement, confessed to the shootings. He wrote a second letter to friends. The third letter, police said, appeared to be a will. He said the gunman had worked previously for Price Waterhouse and Sony Pictures and “had attested to some financial difficulties,” Moore said. “He had become despondent over his financial” situation.”

Another senseless death…. Please don’t let another middle-class or lower-class family suffer. I”m asking that people kill the fat cats who caused this problem…. Someone should over a $100,000 bounty on any CEO of any major firm to be killed. They are the scum……
What a preventable tragedy. When John Kennedy was President he advocated the implementation of mental health community centers that people could simply drop in and chat with a counsellor. No stigma, no charge (Albee et al). The plans were scrapped when he was assassinated.
This person clearly saw no out. His values were screwed up about money and its importance in our lives. Many people as a result of Reaganomics over the past 30 years have been living 5 in a room and keeping their good clothes in dry cleaning bags for that “special interview” where they might be able to recapture that 350k home lifestyle (New York Times 1999).
America has much to go through, as do many around the globe to realize that love, relationships, honest work and peace are the new paradigm for change. When John McCain says bring back the good old days of Reagan he wants to bring back the very philosophy that out sources, downsizes, and consolidates more money to the rich.
Obama’s biggest challenge will be to heal America and build a new culture after 40 years of financial rape by the powers that be. America has a cancer growing from the inside that needs treatment.
Want to improve America’s image globally Mr. next President? How about a “Health Core”. Export transfer of knowledge to third world countries when they purchase high tech health equipment. Use all the vast knowledge bank we have to help fight disease and build new friends across the water. That might win some friends back.
It is hard to be an American living abroad. We are seen as warmongers and self-interest seeking beings that don’t care about anyone else. Is this the America of WW II? No way. My father’s generation were seen as heroes.
How about it? A health core? Watch your good will come back to you 100 times from that idea.
absolutely horrible. how about not living in an upscale neighborhood like porter ranch and maybe you wouldn’t have such financial problems? absolutely ridiculous.
