Anastacia: Sony “Innocently” Asked Me To Lie

thisisbristol.co.uk is reporting a rather odd story about the singer Anastacia that we felt compelled to share. Anastacia has claimed that her record label, Sony, told her to lie about her age. The 40-year-old shaved years off her age in an attempt to appear younger. But she has now blamed Sony for making her lie to her fans, Heat magazine reports. She revealed: “When I started with Sony, they brought it up innocently: ‘You know, you’re 30, it’s not a problem, but we’d love to make your age a little younger, and you look much younger, most people lie about their age in this business.’

“It seemed very innocent the way they were telling me but over the years it’s been something that’s really bothered me.

“Being able to change record label gave me an opportunity to wipe the slate clean. Now I can say that I’m 40, and I’m proud to be 40 – I think it’s fabulous! I was too innocent to really realise what was going on, until I was sort of, ‘God, I wish I could be 37!’”

This story was initially reported by Fabulous Mag, but Anastacia never directly noted that it was Sony that influenced her to do this.
