CES First Impressions
Luckily Chris and I made it safe to Las Vegas and we have just attended the Sony Press Conference, which really blew our socks off, as Sony introduced some really exciting products. We will be uploading the whole press conference so you all could experience what we have witnessed here a couple of hours ago. For now I am going to post some pictures we took so hang in there, more stuff and exciting news are coming your way. Sir Howard Stringer will be speaking tomorrow morning and will surprise the public with a couple of more new Sony toys (one of them will be related to Sony Digital Imaging).
Of course the #1 product that everyone was anticipating and was not sure about was a VAIO P notebook, sort of a resurrected VAIO Picturebook in a sense. I was lucky to meet with Mike Abary, who overseas the VAIO division, and we discussed how revolutionary VAIO P is. I definitely agree that the hardware is a beauty, however we were put off a bit by its crazy resolution that will make you squint if you need to look something up (it could be the fact that we are tired at the moment….we will provide more details on it tomorrow). Its carry case accessories though are pretty cool and match the color of various VAIO P series that will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow morning.

Stan Glasgow, president of Sony Electronics in the US, pretty much ran the show and introduced most of the new products. Check out some pics below:

As you all are aware now Walkman X debuted at CES, however its appearance and fanfare at the Press Conference went sort of unnoticed. What really struck us was the glass covered the Walkman X and no one can check it out and play with it….Bummer!

US&899 for Vaio P, well I will get one for sure, but i dont know how many ppl would actually pay that much for it, i hope SONY will sell a lot of that, but who knows.
Thanks for the update Stan, hope you guys are having fun.
I had a feeling the walkman wouldn’t really get any notice, apart from it being covered under glass, sony decided to debut it 6 months ahead of a release, lol, reminds me of what car manufacturers do, like GM who debut models in january that go on sale in the summer or fall hehe, nice eye candy but stupid marketing wise. I guess the minor walkman intro/info at the show does not bode well for an earlier release that I am so hoping for
I would have thought Sonyinsider would have gotten some exclusives from the show but I guess sony doesn’t care and any cooperation seems to be on the sidelines or going out the window completely.
I am looking forward to watching the whole press conference! Thanks for taping and providing it!
