Internet Capable Bravia XBR9 Will Blow You Away

dsc00056

Sony announced at CES that they are set to update its higher end Bravia television line by introducing the juggernaut XBR9 series, which should be available to most consumers by Spring 2009. The 52′, 46′ and 40′ models will most certainly command a premium price but do not skimp on features – such as 240hz refresh rate and the brand new Bravia Engine 3 (which we will learn more about tomorrow). Sony has integrated the Bravia Internet Video into each set via Ethernet, which now mimics what Japanese consumers have had for quite a while. Also, the XBR9 now supports Yahoo! widgets – officially called Bravia Internet Widgets. They expand and personalize the TV experience by adding on-screen applications that provide real time news, Yahoo! video, flickr pictures, stock updates, and much more. No word if this includes a web broswer – we will find out.

Consumers will also be able to plug in their USB device accordingly and view their media on the TV.

Ethernet is nice, I still have to test that out on our bravia and see what it can do.

I am wondering is sony planning on announcing any OLEDs at the show? I was under the impression they were.

Yahoo Widget TV … does that mean it has an Intel CE 3100 or CE4100 chip in it?
