Final Word About X-Series Walkman Pricing In The USA

You know, I think that it isn’t really clear to everyone what exactly the cost of the X-Series Walkman will be in the United States. I’d written it before, but it seems that some people were genuinely surprised at the high cost when Amazon UK announced pricing. Well, you have to remember that this Walkman is packing some serious technology, especially with that touchscreen AMOLED. To make sure everyone is on the same page, the X-Series (NW-X1000, NW-X1050, NW-X1060, touchscreen Walkman, whatever you want to call it) will cost $299 for the 16GB model, and $399 for the 32GB model in the USA.

    Well, Sony did say it would be in line with the competition (read: iPod touch series), so that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to anyone.

    I’m getting the 32GB version. :-D

    It is hard to determine the appeal of noise cancellation with consumers who are in the market for a new MP3 player. The important thing to remember is that Sony is a little late in providing a 32GB player. With that said the high price will be a turn off for many consumer. The starting price of the new X-series should be about $279 and $349 receptively in the USA.

    Yes, I will be getting the 32GB to complement my 8GB A800. More because of the lack of noise cancellation on the A800.
