great info, the only problems I saw with the P series were the slow CPU and the limited RAM, 3 gigs would be nice but 4 is probably best.

and yes the US gets the 1051/1061 X series models, the rest of the countires get the 1050/1060 models, with the difference probably being the ability to access the amazon mp3 store.

They will bring out a new P-series, in the EU we have the 1.3 Atom processor while in Japan has the 1.9 Atom! And a lot of people what that faster processor as it makes quite a difference. Windows 7 would be a great idea to put on it as well, seeing as it runs and uses less RAM to run it. If they do that – Sony have a seller on their hands. P-series have already been selling very well here.

The original ‘P-series’ have been going for a long while, only they where a ‘C’ series in Japan starting way back in 1998! PCG-C1, PCG-C1XE, PCG-C1VSX.K, and the PCG-C1GPS – Hence its name, it was the first to have GPS on it. And they where running full Windows 95, 98 back then. So it’s nice to see they have randomly brought it back in a growing ‘Netbook’ obsessed world, even when there’s are ultra portable laptops and not Netbooks!

And as for the VGN-X505, I wish they would make a new one, I’m fed up with Apple/Mac talking all the glory when it was Sony to come up with the razor ‘thin’ laptop idea (and having to explain to all these Macbook Air-obsessed customers) So many people are still using it, regardless to it’s old-specs, coming in showing them off, still mint working, they LOVE it, and they still sit and wait for Sony to release a new X-series VAIO and wont buy anything else… I think they would sell a lot if they brought a new one back.

Also we need G-series in Europe! Such a great laptop and yet they wont sell it anymore here, same for what they did with the UX-series.

Yea, I totally agree with you regarding G series, that notebook is built so well! I am pretty sure the new GS series will be hitting the UK and US this summer as well. X505 is a gem, I got the US and the JP versions and still use those. I will be putting SSD in one of those soon and it will definitely make it speedy and up-to-date. VAIO Picturebooks were awesome too!

Perhaps a 2GHz Atom? Nvidia Ion… OK now I am dreaming….

I really hope they include a backlit keyboard on the next version.

XP, WIn 7…. anything is better than Vista at the moment. Heck, let’s go old school with some DOS, lol.
