Why not just use the old design, remove the UMD drive and add a second analog stick for future games. May it more structurally sound (bring back the internal skeleton) and add all new new features as well. It might now be as tiny as the GO!, but it would be easier to use.

In the end my biggest concern is not the hardware, though, but instead the software….the games. A couple of points:

1. If I have purchased 12 games do I get the download rights to the digital versions of the games? I will not buy the games again. I know this creates a problem of providing proof of ownership, but I am sure something could be worked out.

2. More importantly, the digital downloads will be (just like the UMD discs) will sold in specific country. I understand that the PSP can play UMD discs from any region, but we still have to import them. HOW are we supposed to purchase the Japanese version of a game from Sony's servers in Japan? I had to jump through hoops to do this with iTunes and I was never able to purchase digital music from Sony in Japan.

Anyways… Sony Insider, I was hoping to get your thoughts on the new MS Zune HD. I love Sony, but that new Zune kinda blows the new walkman out of the water. What do you think about the spec comparison?

Smaller screen, proprietary connections, no compatability with previously purchased accessories/games.

I quite like the slider idea but why they didn't they use the space for a keyboard like the Mylo? {and perhaps little dual joysticks } What I mean is that the balance of the device seems all wrong. When playing on my PSP there is quite a bit of screen “movement” even with the controls on the same axis as the screen. Make a smaller screen and put the controls underneath and I can see some real problems viewing what's going on on the screen due to magnified off-axis movement.

Something just a little closer to the size of the PSP3000 would allow cut-down front controls and if given a slider with the much requested keyboard (allowing extra controls) would have been an immediate buy for lots of PSP owners. If they'd combined not just the form factor of the Mylo, but also its improved internet capabilities and keyboard, with a PSP they would have had a winner.

There's a lot of downloadable product for the PSP that Sony hasn't a share in; the killer app should have been making the PSP a better Mobile Internet Device (3G & b/g/n wifi anyone? Bluetooth might work 'tho) and linking it to it's own Sony Reader content to use as an entry level e-book device (not to mention Sony movies, TV, and music). The amount of PSP users would dwarf the Kindle already if Sony sorted out its clunky browser firmware and used the online store to deliver e-books etc.

We never do get to hear the reasons why Sony don't do what the majority of their customers think is obvious, just why what they do will be good for us. Wouldn't mind getting some of their 'reasoning' behind their decisions; possibly making the PSP a 'better' internet device would allow Sony customers to buy their content from non-Sony sources. I suppose that's fine if it's their reason to cripple otherwise powerful devices and make them less useful to their customers, but I thought the point is to sell things that people can use and stay ahead of the technology curve to make money (God knows that's what they USED to do).

I think the PSPgo is where new PSP purchasers will start, but there isn't quite enough to it for the huge numbers of existing PSP owners to throw away their previously bought software & accessory laden devices.

One more thing, it's not a real “leak”, since the official PS3 magazine Qore was downloadable for everyone starting today! Sony's mistake, or was it all planned just before MS and Nintendo conferences, to have all the attention?
