Well guys what did you expect? America did bomb Japan in WW2 and they ended up having the most strongest nation, and whats even worse is that they haven't forgotten old grudges,THUS they become secretive and scheming, I know cause living with those people give me the creeps. But thank god for imports that are just enough to scrape the icing off what they have made, though not close enough to what they have inside....sadly.

Yes "Why Sony Why" is a good question. I visited in Tokyo and saw the VGN-NW70JB, Core 2Duo 2.53 Ghz, Blu ray. I purchased it knowing I was risking having a laptop that when loaded with a English OS the keyboard would be screwed. I'm happy to report, after a Windows 7 load, the only thing that does not work is the brightness on the keyboard, and the on the keyboard is not in the usual place but does exist where you would expect it to.

So for a cheaper price and more processing power and blue ray, I'm on a Japanese Sony.

Sony should sell English and Japanese versions in Japan, the store was full of tourist and expats wanting the English version.

As you probably already know Its worse again in Europe. i checked the Vaio P (its gorgeous) at my local Sony Centre. It was about €1,100 ($1,545 USD) (Y147,283) for the 1.33ghz model, standard battery and 60gb 4200rpm HDD. Its beautiful yes, but I just couldn't bring myself to go for it knowing what was on offer elsewhere. I'll try and import from Japan I reckon.

The 1.6ghz with 128gb SSD and standard battery costs a whopping €1,689 ($2,373 USD) (Y226,145). I know we have VAT at 20% which is part of this but in reality the bottom line is its just Sony taking the piss out of Europeans. Unfortunately I reckon that alot of people are marching away from not only this model but other Sony laptops in this recession and they are realizing Sony are using them as cash cows.

One thing that is most annoying with Sony is that product availability in different regions. Either some products just don't show up or with significant delay.
