Full Sony Reader PRS-300 and PRS-600 Specifications Emerge

Internet retailer J&R has leaked the full specifications and pricing of the Sony Reader PRS-300 and PRS-600 (google cache). J&R accidentally put up the product pages earlier today, but deleted them soon thereafter hoping no one would catch it. Well, folks over at hi-pda managed to grab the text and we’ve cleaned it up below. There was no indication whatsoever that either model would have any sort of WiFi capability. Bummer. The J&R listings for some reason did not mention MS/SD ports on the PRS-600, but the service manuals we saw before have confirmed it. There was no mention of when the devices were shipping, but I can imagine it will be soon. Will many people be tempted by a $199 eBook reader that could see a lower price by Christmas?

The $199 Sony PRS300-RC Reader Pocket Edition features a 5″ display and a sophisticated lightweight design that’s easy to slip into a purse or jacket pocket for convenient, on-the-go reading with 512MB of onboard memory available. Sony PRS600-SC Reader Touch Edition ($299) features a 6″ E-Ink display with simple, easy-to-use TouchScreen navigation.
