Remember share holders profits come before consumers, the rest is a marketing spin to make them look good.

If this was true, sony would still not release such media straight away, too much money to be made by continue to keep the prices up, just like petrol prices.

Only when the competitors will start to release similar media then Sony will gradually make these available to normal consumers, until that day I suspect they will make it available to some high end professional products which cost thousands of pounds.
