If as much time and energy was being spent as he suggests, then reallocating that manpower to something else had to be a cost savings if just on paper alone. Sony was selling consoles at a loss since launch (and still is as far as I am aware), so to support Linux was taking away from their bottom line as most people using the PS3 to run clusters might never buy one game or any piece of software which generates revenue. Combine that with the fact that a Sony representative stated that was one of the reason's as well, and there has been no other communication from Sony, it lead's one to draw conclusions.
