Collection Of Real Life Sony A840 Series Walkman Pictures

The revelation of Sony’s new A series Walkman fared better than I expected, with numerous press outlets picking up the story all throughout the day today. People are genuinely enticed by the new A840 series, which touts impressive features such as 2.8 inch OLED screen, digital noise canceling, and the super slim profile. AV Watch was able to take hands on pictures with the A840 series and they truly show off the genuine beauty of this marvel in Japanese engineering. Most of the comments I’ve read on various tech blogs say that this Walkman is “beautiful,” “epic,” and “I’m starting to think Sony could be a real contender for #2 PMP worldwide.”

Can the A series Walkman help Sony solidify a #2 spot? I know Sony is faring far better than they have in a long time with their portable media players, but they have never brought anything like this to the table before. Here’s hoping Sony has delivered a home run to combat the iPod Nano, ZuneHD, and so forth.

Man! I've always been a huge Sony fan but this series…WOW! THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL AND PACKED WITH FEATURES! Can't wait 'til they hit the U.S., soon I hope:)

I am disinterested in whether this player will be #2. I miss the days when products were based on quality rather than their market share, which is different from a companies share of a specific market. So, if after doing enough research if the features/quality/price is right then I will consider getting this one.

I must have 64gb of Sony DAP goodness – DROOL!!!! And the current word is the new S Series is gapless, it's just not announced (and it may be just a smaller gap).

    Let's remember something….
These new models are ONLY meant for the Japanese market and can't (or shouldn't) be exported! The language is only in Japanese!

Already contacted some vendors about importing them once released by was told it can NOT be exported outside Japan!

Non-Japanese will have to wait until Sony wishes to create an International version with multi-language support!

Sony STILL won't create media software for the player! Content Transfer is a Joke as well as WMP!
Sonic Stage is Japan-only and it still uses the ATRAC file format while the rest of the world uses primarily mp3 (and other files formats NOT supported by Sony (and it won't) like Flac or Lossless)!

Having had a chance to use the new S740/S640 series, it is interesting how they have improved the interface. This is both the keypad, and the screen. I am also glad that they re-introduced the pitch control that has been missing from previous models.

This A series as it stands will not be released outside Japan.

Sony's naming convention seems to be anything starting with NWZ will be for international markets and anything with NWA will for Japan with ATRAC.

I really do hope they release an international version.

What is it with Sony, they produce decent kit for Japan. But in the UK the best they can do is the new S-Series 16Gb with built in speakers. The space would be better used for more memory. Do they think that outside Japan we would struggle to fill 32 or 64 Gb.

Hopefully they will get their finger out and offer these A840's in Europe.

I live in Japan and just picked up a black 32 gig A846 today. Found one for 28,000 (US$310). Lovely unit. Beautiful screen and nice, angular design. The micky mouse controls, however, so far don't feel as practical as the older inset A828 set. Wouldn't recommend importing if you can't read japanese as the language issues are is now even higher due to all the extra features, hence more complicated menus.
