it seems you are right johnfrederick, i have a VGN-SZ79GN which i upgraded to windows 7 and cannot find the drivers for webcam, mic or finger print security…so i cannot use things like skype…etc. why sony didnt tell us before?

Try Linux Mint…comes in 32 or 64 bit flavors, also Ubuntu would do…. my sony vaio vgn-sz430n have both, win7 and linux, both do pretty well….win7 without the mass storage controller driver, which I am still looking.

i just got my vaio and when i say i just got it i mean i got it yesterday. so one would expect nothing to go wring with it. all i did was upgrade it and bom its screen wouldn’t work anymore. the upgrade was automatic and i am so disappointed in vaio that i can’t even put it into words. my mom has 2nd hand dell and that has had no issues and i get a vaio and within a DAY its nt working. how messed up is that

I have a VGN-FW I upgraded it with Win 7. It will not work with Mobile Intel 45 express display adapter drivers. Will work with basic driver but win 7 keeps reinstalling the bad drivers. Sony ? Intel ? I am typing this from a MAC which i also use for Win XP when necessary. Never have these upgrade issues.
