SE’s New G705/G705u UMA-Enabled Slider Phone

Sony Ericsson launched a new slider style cell phone this week, the G705, that has several attractive features. Several items of interest include a 2.4 inch display (QVGA resolution), HSDPA/HSUPA (HSUPA for the American model), WLAN with support for DLNA, GPS with support for aGPS, FM radio with RDS, NetFront browser, A2 platform, and a 3.2 mega pixel fixed focus camera. A 1 GB memory card comes bundled. It is essentially a C905 with added HSUPA and a much better camera. This is Sony Ericsson’s first phone to support UMA, which gives you the ability to make calls via the regular cellular networks as well as LAN networks.

The G705 and G705u (exclusive to Orange) support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 2100. G705 will be available in selected markets from early Q4 in the colors Silky Gold or Majestic Black. G705u (exclusive to Orange) will be available from early Q4 in the color Luminous Black. The G705 will also be available in a version for American markets supporting networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSUPA 850/1900/2100. G705 for American markets will be available early Q1 2009.
