Sony Walkman W202 Pictorial

Well, the heart-shaped, butterfly Walkman has arrived and here are some shots for you all to check out while it is charging. Packaging was made of one of those hard plastic materials, I thought Sony did away with those?

Walkman comes with pre-loaded software Content Transfer – quick and user friendly utility I mentioned previously here, also the Manual is embedded within its memory as well. 12 tracks of MP3 are also loaded to get you going.

The packageing on my UK model looks alot differnt from yours… and my one looked ALOT easier to open by the looks of it!

Here’s a picture of my one – (I poped my Xperia in there too, she wanted to wave to your one, hehe!)

http://www.sonyaibo.net/DSC05477.JPG – Er, that’s the link to the picture, no idea why it didn’t work on my past post…

Amrit: Yes, that is a standard Mini USB port.

Shanie: The European packaging is alot better than the US, that’s for sure!

    Hey Shanie,
Love your site! Actually stumbled on it when I was searching something on Rolly and was happy to see you got 3 of those! I am hoping to get the bluetooth upgrade for it. Also I was impressed with your Aibo collection…..I miss my Champagne ERS7 badly……

  • Shanie said:

Whhhy did you sell your Champ ERS-7! The last AIBO ever made, and the most expensive (and quite rare) to get yourself one now…

As for your Rolly’s, you need to buy the SEP50BT upgrade for your SEP-10BT’s from Sony Style Japan for around 8,000 Yen and they send it to you via disk… So if you got contacts in Japan you can get yourself one, otherwise it’s quite hard…

    Shanie,
I actually had 2 of those Aibos! Long story, I will share with you sometime! As for Rolly, I got black and white SEP-30BT versions…I am still hoping for the US Rollys to get that upgrade….

I hope they do too (one of my white Rolly’s is a US model) I think they’re confused on the app they will make on certain mobile phones to get the remote Bluetooth funtion to work… Easier for them in Japan.

*the usb jack on the (left) headphone has no covering to keep foreign matter and moisture out when you wear them, which is disappointing.

I’m having a tough time getting excited about these. Shuffle feature is fine for a display-less device, I guess. They still look uncomfortable (heavier than regular ‘phones) to wear. They have no FLAC or Ogg Vorbis support. The battery cannot be replaced by the user. The storage cannot be upgraded or replaced. Hrm.

Still, it will be nice to read the first impressions, including the sound of the headphones (which cannot be replaced). On the upside – the cable will probably have less chance of breaking than regular headphone cable, but the life of the device is limited to the battery and internal storage life, like so many audio devices made nowadays.

USB port is facing down when you wear them, “foreign matter” staying in is less probable….

so…..it failed again…thats my 4th player in about a month….i give up…this device has a problem. I think it is moisture getting in…dont exercise if you use this product!!

stay away until they fix it,
