Thirty Years Of The Sony Walkman In Three Minutes
Walkman is a Sony brand originally used for portable audio cassette, and is now used to market Sony’s portable audio and video players as well as certain Sony Ericsson phones. The original Walkman introduced a change in music listening habits by allowing people to carry their music with them, a revolutionary concept for its time. The device was built in 1978 by audio division engineer Nobutoshi Kihara for Sony co-chairman Akio Morita, who wanted to be able to listen to operas during his frequent transpacific plane trips. The original Walkman was marketed in 1979 as the Walkman in Japan, the Soundabout in many other countries including the US, Freestyle in Sweden and the Stowaway in the UK. Morita hated the name “Walkman” and asked it to be changed, but relented after being told by junior executives that a promotion campaign had already begun using the ‘Walkman’ name and would be too expensive to change.

hi i am a huge and loyal fan of sony products.. i have 2 sony walkman.. 1 is 1 gb model USB type walkman from singapore and the other is 8 gb A series walkman from USA.. i love both of them.. and i think if you love music there is nothing better than a sony walkman.. SONY is the best for me and in electronics i have just bought sony products and each of them are worth it.. i dont hate the ipod and i think it is a amazing gadget in its own way and i respect apple for that.. i feel sad at the way sony is right now with all the losses and i really wish they come back strong.. its feels bad when you see other companies like apple, panasonic, samsung, nintendo making huge profits whereas sony which is a huge company also making so many losses.. i do feel they took some wrong steps and they are paying for it.. still i wish the best for sony and it may sound stupid but i really want sony to prove to everyone that they are still the best.. i am waiting for that day till then i am watching sonys every move and still buying their products and waiting for them to get back to profits.
