Question: can music files be transfered to the new walkmans without installing any software? Like to a standard USB storage device?
Yes, you can drag and drop using Windows Explorer. Now, on to the subject of the Content Transfer software. I had been looking forward to using this for a while – but – what is it about Sony and playlists? Why is this concept so mysterious to them? Yes, you can drag a playlist from iTunes onto the player and it will indeed copy the songs on your playlist to the device. It even lets you delete the playlist. However – all it does it delete the playlist. It does not delete the actual songs! C’mon!!!! It is 2009!!!
me has a sony walkman -NW i think- 512 mb space . i recently formatted it and now i cant put songs into it .i drag and drop songs but the player says – format error. Oh by the way it is a medivial player with fm and music ,the size of a finger. i remember it having some software but after the format it all got deleted . please help.
Video file conversion is NOW available.
Sony's Content Transfer software still S*CKS though!
No ripping, no file editting available. Forces users to use 3rd party software because Sony is SO greedy and cheap in NOT creating a media software for their MP3 players which is very ironic!
Adding insult to injury…
Transfer process is SLOW as hell!

hi, I´ve been having problem with my content transfer software. When I connetct the walkman, my computer recognises there is a USB device but the content transfer programme doesn´t recognise the walkma, and continues to say “connect walkman”. this is particularly annoying as it worked a few months ago and suddenly it doesn't. I had it repaired by Sony, but it still won't work. Next step will be to see if the walkman can fly… Anybody gt ny uggestions on this?

Yeah, I am a little shocked by the crap quality of this Sony Walkman series.. and what is with having 65,000 different “versions” of walkmans? what is the deal with that?
Anyway, yeah content transfer may or may not work, but won't tell you why or how.
Support is difficult at best.
This is my last walkman, for sure.
Video conversion failed. Seriously, what the hell?
